Hamilton Jay exhibited from 1875 to 1913. He was a landscape painter in oil and watercolour who lived variously in London (1880), Abinger Hammer (1885), South Harting near Petersfield (1887), Yapton near Arundel (1895) and Littlehampton (1904). His work was exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Suffolk Street Galleries, the Royal Society of British Artists, Walker Art Gallery Liverpool, Manchester City Art Gallery, New Gallery and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
