Danton Adams
was an abstract and portrait painter, lecturer and author of the textbook
“Musical Colour”.
He was born in Eastbourne and studied art at Putney School of Art and
Chelsea School of Art. He exhibited at
the Royal Academy, the Paris Salon, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the
Royal Watercolour Society, the Royal Institute of Oil
Painters, the Royal Society of British Artists, United Artists’ Society and the
Imperial War Museum. His portrait of “Vice
Admiral Sir Arthur Dowding is in the Imperial War Museum. He was President and Founder of the Wimbledon
Art Group and Fellow of the International Institute of Arts and Letters. He lived at New Maldon
in Surrey.
